Religion, and the Catholic church, is a major feature of Mexican life. A legacy left by the Spanish conquistators when they arrived here in the 1500’s. Even small towns have a large church, usually the main feature. Large towns, like Oaxaca have numerous churches, as well as a dominating cathedral and often a mission or convent too.
Here are photos, of the beautiful Ex Convento de Santo Domingo, imposing cathedral on the main square and several other churches.
