Taking another break from the motorbikes on our ride through Africa in 2016, we made a 4-day hike along the Drakensberg escarpment.
Having got a lift to the South African border post, we got stamped into Lesotho and hiked up the Sani Pass to the self-acclaimed highest pub in Africa. After a chilly night at the top, we headed off the next morning in a southerly direction, following the edge of the escarpment.
The views down into South Africa were stunning. And for 3 days we saw no one except a few herdsmen, always wrapped in their blankets to ward off the cold and often with their dogs close by.
When we reached Bushman’s Nek, we headed down off the escarpement and back into South Africa.
