I have been fortunate enough to stumble upon Chris Guillebeau’s website, The Art of Non-Conformity and having read several of this articles realise that he has put into words many of my own idea and thoughts, which I have until recently kept largely to myself.

In Chris’ own words, ‘The Art of Nonconformity (AONC) project chronicles my writing on how to change the world by achieving significant, personal goals while helping others at the same time. In the battle against conventional beliefs, I focus on three areas: Life, Work, and Travel.’

One article which particularly captured my interest was the article titled ‘Creating a Legacy Project‘ where he describes his desire to undertake a project which would outlast him. I think a legacy project could also be described as one that will not only outlast the creator but continue to grow and expand beyond the virtual boundaries of the initial vision.

I don’t doubt that the next 2-years cycling from the UK to Cape Town will provide me the opportunity to achieve my own personal goals, possibly helping others at the same time. I also hope this website and the Photo Project extend beyond the duration of the journey, and at the very least may be a prerequisite to a future Legacy Project.
