This down vest by Rab has to be my favourite item of clothing. Ever.

It’s perfect as an extra layer around camp, or wearing to sleep in -13C November Utah with only a 0C rated sleeping bag. Best of all though, it looks great and so you can wear it on your walk to the pub in autumn England as well as apres-ski in the Alps. Or if it’s another chilly summer, then this down vest could be a wardrobe regular 12 months of the year.

Made from Pertex Quantum fabric and 120g of 800+ fill power European goose down, it is lightweight, packs small and durable too.

The Rab down vest comes in black with a turquoise inside, which shows (and looks great) if you don’t have the zip fully up.

It’s got elasticated arm holes, but they’re not really noticeable, in that there is no constriction. And there is an adjustable drawcord round the hem (although I see little need for it).

It is a great shape, which widens to fit around us ladies with hips and is longer in the back so you never split in the middle when bending down to hammer in the tent pegs.

There are hand pockets and an internal one with zip, which is good for putting in an ipod or money.

There’s little more to say about this vest really. There are no flaws that I can see. I just can’t quite believe I managed so long without one! It’s definitely well worth the money! Oh, and there is a men’s version too.
