I’m in the early stages of planning my next trip… It’s gonna be big, I’ve no idea how long it’ll take, it’ll undoubtedly involve multiple route changes. Actually, I’ve not done much planning at all. But I do have a bike – another XT225 Serow (although it needs some work).
I have booked a ferry to Spain. That much is certain. I leave in March. I can’t wait.
This is the vague idea…
Getting to the Caucasus should take me through to near the end of 2020. After that, it all gets even more vague. The general idea is to make my way to Australia and spend a good six months exploring there. Ideally, I’d ride my Serow all the way, but the costs probably make this unfeasible and it’ll be cheaper to rent or buy when I get there.
I also like the idea of riding an XT500. They’re very expensive in the UK though. But they’re still affordable in South Africa. So I’m thinking I could buy one there and ride it home.
Of course, I’ve somehow got to decide where to leave / what to do with the Serow after the Caucasus. So it might be that I keep riding it into Central Asia and even through Russia.
So there it is. Now you know as much as me about my travel plans for 2020 and beyond…
